Extremely pleasantly surprised. Wasn't sure what to expect from other reviews here. Exterior and interior of building will transport you back in time. The restroom is like stuck in the 90s. There's no music playing in the background. Needs some refurbishing and maybe updating. But aesthetics aside, it was clean and comfortable, and we were seated in a good amount of time. Our host and waitress were courteous, polite, attentive, and professional. There is a homey, comfy vibe. I liked the gorgeous, old-fashioned menu layout, but you can't beat the prices for their Daily Specials (didn't include the menu for that in the pics). Where else are you going to get a bbq sandwich and a side for $12? And there are lots of selections to choose from on that menu, which is 2-sided. Then came the food. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and bbq beans, and omg the flavor was absolutely divine. Their sauce is nothing short of a-ma-zing. The meat was tender, perfectly cooked and perfectly juicy, and the bread was even delicious and toasted to perfection. My dad had a barbecue restaurant way back when I was a kid, so we never went to any others. I recall he was not fond of Chris & Pitts because they were actual competition. My dad's bbq was, admittedly better of course, but he's been in Heaven for a while now, and he gave the recipe to my siblings, who aren't giving it up to me anytime soon. But now I've found a flavorful alternative! Moral of the story: Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Love the SOUP here . Had their chicken soup today. It had chunky carrots and celery which made the broth very tasty.
If your looking for a good BBQ place check out Chris N Pitts, the one in Whittier gets pretty busy so go early or expect a wait. The Beef rib plate is my usual, but today I had the rib special which had the three types of ribs with a salad and French Fry's. I think the baby backs were very tasty so maybe my new go to will be that plate. My server Anthony was friendly and attentive, but the lady across the isle had a different expectancy's, her food was delivered late without any silverware and the stake she ordered was so tough, I watched her saw at it for at least a minute straight before giving up and sending it back. This is the first time that I've been here seeing this type of experience so I was a bit surprised. I will definitely be back for those baby backs....
Spare ribs good as ever. I hope they never change their recipe. Nice tangy bbq sauce with fall off the bone meat. Fries and beans are good but the French dressing on the salad is great! It has a very sharp taste to it. Service is good and attentive with COVID seating staggering their tables. As always, I highly recommend this location. There is plenty of parking in the rear. Dine-in and take-out is available.
I love chris & pitts! The food is amazing and their bbq sauce is delicious and so flavorful.. their garlic bread is soft and tasty and the best in the game along with their bbq ribs.. it's a fun family style bbq restaurant that gives you that old western vibe. Very clean and the employees are friendly.
